Netball is not just about being active; the better you get at it, the more you have to play smart and use tactics - so much fun. Every position is important and, to win, netball must be played as a team. Netball helps develop life skills – leadership, time management, social interaction.
The Murwillumbah Netball Association (the Association) organises the sport of Netball in Murwillumbah, The Association is a part of Golden South Netball Region within Netball Queensland. Netball is a major sport, and an estimated 1.2 million Australians played the game in 2003. It is currently the largest female participation sport in Queensland with a registered membership of 37,000 people. The Association wants netball to continue to be a vibrant component in the local community.
Murwillumbah Netball Association is a small association made up of players from within Murwillumbah and the surrounding villages of Stokers Siding, Uki, Burringbah, Condong, Nunderi, Crystal Creek, Tyalgum, Chillingham, Tumbulgum, Pottsville and Bogangar.
We play in Murwillumbah every Saturday. We have Funnet for youngsters 5 - 7 to develop their fine motor skills. Non-competitive Netta for children aged 7 - 10. Both Funnet and Netta are played at 10.30. The competitive 11/12 grade plays at 9.00 or 10.30. Intermediate will try to play at 10.30 or 12.00. Young umpires are coached at this time as well. Opens take the court at 12.00 or 1.30pm.
